Cosmo Fit Shafts, Carbon, Duralumin and Titanium

Ok this is more of an update to my existing review of the Cosmo Fit Flight system but just focussing mainly on the Fit Shafts Carbons, Super Duralumin and Titanium. I am not really going into a huge amount of detail on flights or the stems as such as done that in my original review, but will go over a few things.

The Fit Flight system has been out for a number of years now and its a very popular one. There is a huge range of flights and shafts to choose from but I am specifically looking at the more expensive and hopefully longer lasting shafts here.
The Fit Shafts come in two types, a locked and a spinning shaft and there is three shapes, a slim, a normal and a hybrid.
Locked means the flights wont spin and obviously the spinning means they will.
The shafts are available in 8 sizes.
The Fit Shaft Carbon are available in plain black carbon or a white colour or a blue/grey pearl like colour and also in the 3 shapes of slim, normal and hybrid in spinning or locked. From size 5 to 8 the carbon shafts change slightly with grooves along them. There is also a small number on the shaft to tell you the size. The plain retail for around £24 and the colour for £25.50.
The Super Duralumin is like a stronger aluminium and is just a shiny silvery metal shaft and is available in normal or slim spinning or locked. They retail for around £29.40.
The Fit Shaft Titanium only comes in slim locked or spinning but is in a plain silver metal or a burnt rainbow colour.
They retail for around £65+ The titanium shafts should be the strongest and longest lasting.
The shafts come in little plastic and cardboard packs and the carbon have a foam insert holding the shafts and are also supplied in packs of 4 and the metal shafts have a cork insert. They also come with 6 rubber O-rings.
For the review I was mainly testing out the size 5 Super Duralumin spinning shaft. As you can see its a quite beautiful looking piece of metal 🙂
The difference between the locked and spinning shaft is just the shape of the top, the locked is flat and squared and the spinning is rounded.
The carbon are lightest and a little lighter than a same sized nylon shaft and the slim carbon (not shown) is the lightest of them all.
As this is more of an update on these shafts its probably more helpful to watch the video above but in the video I try to break a slim fit shaft gear of the normal plastic and a fit shaft slim carbon. The normal material of the fit shaft took a fair bit of effort to break but the slim carbon broke first try with a quick snap.
So from that test I would likely say the slim carbon are probably less durable than the normal or hybrid carbons. I never attempted to break those but they feel a whole lot stronger but I still suspect they will not be immune to a very heavy impact which is may be why they are supplied in packs of 4.
Having said that I know plenty of people that use the carbons and I think most say they last them well enough. I would guess its down to what advantage your looking for. If you really need a light shaft you may want to try the carbon slims but I think even with the normal and hybrid your still get a very light shaft but one that should be more resilient.
If you have been using the fit flight system for a while and you already know that you like to stick to a certain type of stem then you may want to consider the metal versions. The Super Duralumin for me seems to be the best value for long term use. granted its initially an expensive out lay but if you dont mind the slightly heavier stem I think its going to last a long time.
The same applies to the Titaniums, they look really nice and seem to be super strong so should last a lifetime but they are the most expensive so you would hope they will 🙂
A lot of people tend to use the slim or hybrid variety because there is a little flex but with the metal ones that does not apply but the slim shape helps keep the weight down.
A lot of what I said in the original review still applies with this system though, its a system that like others is one you probably need to try to see if its something you like and works for you.
In terms of the spinning and locked choice the spinning may help prolong the life of the flights but it still has a slight rattle thats not excessive but may be enough to annoy some so the locked is probably better if you think it will.






























Glad to see this review here Darren. I own three sets of shafts from this review. Normal and hybrid plain black carbons and the plain titanium ones, all of them the spinning #4 size. I own more sets than these, either the Gear or the Superduralumin ones and I always preferred the spinning types. The set I’ve used the most throughout the year was the titanium one. They’re quite heavy though and at first I had to start using different darts with these stems. Not a big issue as I’ve got quite a few to choose from. I also used those Hybrid ones with other set and for a shorter while I also used those normal ones. Actually, I’ve put on those normal ones just today for a few practice games and they were flying nice. I haven’t broken any shaft of these and those titanium ones are still straight, no bending at all. However, the space for o-rings is quite small and if the stem wasn’t screwed in perfectly, then it might look like they were a bit bent. I solved this by using thicker o-rings than those supplied in the package by Cosmodarts. Also, when tinkering with numerous sets of darts with differently sized threads, the thicker o-rings worked better. As far as the flights were reviewed, I got one set of Airs and one set of normal flights . Both the “Shape” type. I still keep those normal ones in a box because I’ve had some other flights of this type to use. However, I tried those Air flights and even though it’s just a matter of thickness I felt they were flying differently. Not worse. I just better haven’t started using these too much – I’ve already had a lot of stuff to tinker with…. Most of the time though I have used either kites or the Delta kites. These Delta kite flights with heavy titanium shafts are quite a killer but if you learn how to use this combo it works well. I mean, it’s like when using Unicorn Phase 5 shafts with DMX flights. It’s either the best or the worst. I guess many people would know what I mean by this…
