I am a big fan of the Condor Zero Stress all in one stems and flights so was looking forward to trying these Condor Axe version.

The Zero Stress are very durable in my experience and last me a long time but as they are made from a very soft springy plastic they can cause deflections to be exaggerated.

To solve that the new Condor Axe where made with a new plastic that is a more rigid than the Zero stress version but reduces the excessive deflections while supposedly still maintaining a high level of durability.

However when they first came out a lot of people where having trouble with the stem breaking where the thread starts. So they have now came out with this newer version which hopefully addresses that issue. The new version has a small gap from the thread to the stem, check the pics or video for more info.

You can see more in the video but I will just quickly go over the main features of molded flights like these.

Firstly the wings of the flights are always 90 degree and with these new Axe version they still have some flex but always go back to their shape.

As its an all in one stem and flight the flights of course wont pop off so no picking flights up off the floor. Also if you struggle to insert them into stems may be due to poor eyesight then that issue is no longer present.

Of course there is the other side of the coin where some people prefer to have their flights pop off so the dart continues on its course. That is a valid point but as with all things in darts its what the individual likes in the end 🙂

For me I love using the Zero stress when practicing, I hate picking flights up off the floor and fiddling around trying to insert them. Having a iffy back and poor eyesight is why lol!

The main problem with these systems for most is the cost, moulded flights are never going to be the same price as the cheaper poly flights. The Axe retail for £10.50 which is a lot of money! But I have had Zero stress flights last me well over a year and although they are cheaper at around £6 or so its still a lot more than a 40p poly flight.

But if these new Axe last as long as the Zero stress then it could be worth it. Guess you need to find these things out for yourself but in a year its quite possible that I would go through the same cost or more in normal stems and flights.

So far I have only been using these for a total of 7 hours since doing the video. I have only had one bounceout to speak of and the stem did not break. As you can see in the video I tried to break them by throwing them on the floor, they were fine 🙂

In regards to whether they have sorted the excess deflection problem of the Zero stress version I think they certainly have. I have not seen any excessive deflections.

The flights do make a kind of plasticky hollow sound which is not off putting but just a little different, some people may even like it.

Its still early days and I am going to continue using them and will report back in a few weeks but quite impressed with them so far 🙂
