Recently Mission Darts and Darts Corner became the official sponsors of the UK Darts Association so the Mission Samurai 2 dartboard will be the board used for the UKDA.
I never had the Samurai 1 so not entirely sure what has changed/improved etc but will just talk about the board as I see it so far.
As mentioned in the video I recently reviewed the One80 G3+ too so I will be doing monthly updates on both boards for some time to get an idea of how they wear, you will need to check my Youtube channel to see them.
The board on initial impression seems really good for the money, in fact I show in the video how closely it resembles the One80 G3+.
I know boards tend to look much the same these days and going by looks alone you cant tell how good or bad they are but only once you have used them for a while, but if it had seems logos as the G3+ I doubt I could tell the difference?
Thats probably a good thing though, the G3+ is a great board and from my short time with the Mission Samurai 2 it seems equally as good.
Sisal was very neat overall and no real major defects worth mentioning. I also liked that the board came in a cellophane wrapper with some silica moisture absorbing crystal pack within. I think its a really good idea to do that, storage conditions can ruin a board if they are in a high moisture environment.
Colouring of the board looks fine, as you would expect, deep and even colours.
Spider seems very similar to the G3+ with a slightly triangular blade, I think the Samurai 2 spider was a little more flush to the surface of the sisal though, not much in it but thats how it felt to me.
Noise level from darts impact was pretty quiet, just a slight higher pitched thud but I think its down to the plastic shoes impacting against the wall. Still all told its a good level of sound, not really noisy at all.
Density of the board is I would say about average. White sections fairly soft with the coloured sections just a touch harder and possibly the greens being a little harder the others. I think they will soften more in time as I believe its just the inking that binds the sisal fibres a little more. Once its broken in it will be good.
Bulls eye was just a little more soft than I thought it would be but I prefer a softer bull.
Segment sizes were as you would expect these days but I think on the G3+ the Doubles were a touch bigger than the Trebles and its the opposite way round on the Samurai 2.
As mentioned though I cant do a full wear test in such a short review so will be updating over the coming months but I am very impressed so far for a board that is just a touch under £30 to be this good.
