These are the Trinidad Tucker darts from the Trinidad X-Series. I believe they are name after boxers so these are the Tony Tucker. Its a soft tip dart and as far as I’m aware is just in this weight.
Its a more or less a straight barrel dart with just a few subtle differences with the angled section at the front and the scallop on the end and also the two fine rings in the middle protrude very slightly. The front is a mix of smooth bands, thin rings and grooves and the middle is similar but with circular indents. The rear section has a nice double thin ring grip with staggered dots cut into the rings and the end has a small scallop section with a fine micro grip. The barrel is mostly medium level grip except for the dot grip which is closer to high medium.
It not often the soft tips I review are straight barreld and above 21g so these are a nice change 🙂 Its a nice looking dart with an interesting grip. There is a few quirks to suggest its not a full straight parallel barrel but its a close as you could want and those quirks just make it all the better really.
I was quite happy with them with my front grip and it flew fairly smooth most of the time, just got a little bit of spin now and then but on the whole the flight was good and balance was fine. I even hit a 180 on my very first throw at the T20’s when I did the slow-mo part of the video, so that was nice 🙂
I thought the slight way the barrel slopes near where I held it would feel a little strange but it felt quite comfy actually. Grip on the front is not massive but its certainly adequate.
From the middle it flew ok and may be best balanced and smoothest in flight again but probably less grippy than the front but there is a subtle bit of grip from the slightly protruding rings.
Holding the dart at the rear is where it feels best though. I held it on that thin double ring grip with the dots cut into it as the scallop part is probably a little too far back for me to hold comfortably. The dot grip section feels great though, I really like the feel of that and was surprised it felt more grippy when throwing than just feeling, its like a fine cheese grater feel. I even hit a bulls eye with the rear grip so should be fine for natural rear grippers 🙂
Also if you like to grip right at the end of the barrel then the scallop section is handy but similar to the front and middle in terms of grip level.
I know people say you can reverse soft tips but they dont always seem to fly as well when I do but I liked the dot grip so much I had to try. Sadly for me the grip was not as close to the nose as I would like but the darts actually flew very well so in that respect it was great!
Its a longer barrel than I would normally use but quite enjoyed throwing them and going to give them a go with some steel tip conversion points on to see how they fare.
Overall quality is very nice and good design and value wise its not that bad compared to the prices of some Asia soft tip darts so a good buy I think.
Probably best for rear grippers but only because of that nice grip otherwise it should suit any style of grip 🙂
