These are the MVG Design Assault darts that are part of the Michael van Gerwen endorsed range of products and were recently launched in the latest Winmau 2021 launch. MVG does not use the darts of course but they are based on the grip placement of his darts but with a very grippy wide spaced ring grip. The barrels are coated in a nice deep black Onyx PVD coating with nicely contrasting green highlights.
As with all the Winmau darts they were recently increased by £3 from the price they were when first launched but still a good price overall.
If you like a grippy dart then you should be happy with these but as the grip is in specific locations on the barrel and mixed in with some smooth sections it will depend on the finger placement.
For me as a front gripper the first section feels just right, its got plenty of grip and is wide enough so my thumb sits along it comfortably.
I think for mid to rear grippers that is those just past centre but not right to the end of the barrel it will also work well too, that is if you like a good amount of grip of course.
I did think the darts could be too grippy when I first seen them, the wide gaps inbetween the rings are basically what is giving it so much grip, but if they were deeper and the edges were more sharply defined I think it could have been too much. So for me at least it has a good level of grippiness without being so sticky that it hampers the release, which is good 🙂
I like the overall feel of the darts and I think the supplied short stems work well with them as the balance was fine too. Its not too thick at 6.6mm and for me anyway certainly not too thin.
As is often the case with straight barrel darts it could work well for many grip placings but for those who are holding on the grippy parts I think its going to be best.
The darts are neatly made and coating was nice and deep black which is always nice to see as so many times they call the coating black and its often more of a grey colour. Not strictly an MVG dart but I think a great dart in its own right that should work well for many.
