This is the Mission Spiro from the recent new Mission 2021 launch. Mission have had another nice launch this year with some interesting products and great looking darts, the Spiro is certainly one that caught my eye. There is two models in the range and I am reviewing the straight barrel M1 version. Once again its another nice grip and interesting variation on the classic straight barrel style.

The darts have a nice bull nose and apart from the very front and rear the barrel has plenty of grip! Its finished off in a nice graphite PVD coating with a neat little Mission logo in a contrasting gold. So a good looking dart overall.

The grip has a similar feel to the Harrows Revere I recently reviewed and is made in a similar way with kind of thin square edges rings that are stepped to make up a bigger ring ( or tyre? ) style grip. I think this is a little more grippy though because it feels like the edges are more pronounced and also the peak of the bigger rings/tyres has a fine groove so you can feel the edges either side of that too.

Its a fairly long barrel for me at 52mm but it came with short stems so that was better to throw with I think. It feels good to throw and released easier than I was expecting it to. Should work fine for front, middle or rear grippers, but I guess you need to like a grippy dart.

Its quite impressive how effective the grip is from a fairly simple design but also looks like a little thought has gone into how it performs on contact too, I say that because one side of the tyres (yes I will stick to calling them that) is smooth and angled and the other has the stepped rings which are edgy. So from one side you get more grip but as it passes over the flights it reduces the damage a little as less edges to catch.

It is a design that is still likely to cause so damage to your flights though, but most grippy darts do and also because it has a lip on the nose, but again that is often a common thing with bull nose in particular.

I think this is one of them darts that is going to be popular, like the Revere I think when people get a throw of them they will be surprised how nice the grip is but could still be a little too strong for some, still a great variation of the straight barrel style which is nice to see.

Price is very good for these too which is always welcome but quality is near perfect. For a barrel with so many finely cut edges I could not see anything wrong, everything was clean and neat and coating was very tidy too, impressive stuff!
