This is the Koa the latest dart in the Shot Tribal Weapon range. As with the others in the series it echos the cultural weapons used in the culture around New Zealand and other islands in the pacific. Koa is a wood that was used for canoes and weapons on Hawaii.
The dart has a fairly long front taper which has the rather nice pyramidal ring grip with lateral cuts then its followed in middle with a kind of pyramidal squares knurl style, but better than knurl and finally the rear has a nice scallop with pronounced beveled rings.
The barrel also has a nice ti carbon coating and ti carbon points with cinder grip etching.
I think this is very possibly the best looking in the Tribal Weapon range and the feel of the carbon ti coating adds a nice little extra to the overall grip, it has a kind of dry feel to it.
The pyramidal grip on front and centre probably looks a little more aggressive than it is, its grippy but it also releases from the fingers easily and does not have that edgy sticky feel on the skin.
I do like that rear scallop section though but as I am a frontie it is not in the right place for me lol.
I am not always a fan of long front tapers but these darts seem to be nicely balanced where ever you hold them and fly better for me than I was expecting.
Overall I think its a dart that could suit any one, hard to say who may get the best out of it but guess it will just depend on if its the shape/style that works with your throw, but I think it could be one that may surprise many.
Once again its very well machined and good design but sadly again on the pricey side 🙂
