This is the Harrows Fire: Inferno from the new Harrows 2021 launch. Its a tapered style barrel, wider at front then gradual subtle taper to the rear, and has a great look which fits its name well. The barrel has what Harrows call bilateral incision milled? Basically it means it looks nice and grippy lol
The black titanium coating with the red metallic highlighted milled cuts makes it look kind of burning embers or a kind of lava flow effect, very striking look really. When I first saw the darts I thought the grip looked very brutal and would be too much. I think its the way the red sections highlight the edges of the grip but I am pleased to find its not as vicious as I thought it was 🙂
Its still a grippy dart though but the grip is kind of like a mix of shark and ring grip combined, it does not have the sharp point edges of a normal shark/razor grip, so it does not stick to the skin like that. The edges are flat and the groove is angled, so it still remains grippy but not excessively so.
I think the dart looks great though, and the black ti coating is a nice deep black and when the light catches the red it looks great.
The barrel itself has a nice taper and I think it should work for all grip styles but may be front and middle grippers get the best for balance.
I think for me as a front gripper the balance is what I liked best and I often felt like I was throwing a shorter dart, not sure if that is down to the balance or the way the barrels rear looks, kind of like as if the barrel ends on the last ring and then the rest is the stem, could just be the optical effect messing with the mind on that though.
The grip had a slightly glossy feel and is kind of spikey but in a nice way, may still be too grippy for some though.
The only thing I did notice is at first the milled cuts felt a little like the barrel was not completely uniform in the fingers, that soon went away though.
The new Supergrip Ignite stems look great and I am certain they are holding the flights a little tighter too. The flights are made from a metallic material so may not look good when they get a few scrapes but they suit the overall look of the darts setup very well 🙂
One issue is the short points though, its a bit on the too short side at 25mm which I find a little annoying but its something you can easily change to suit your own preference.
Quality is superb again from Harrows, all machined very neatly and the coatings are great. It also good they are in a range of weights in 1g increments, always a nice touch that.
So a very pleasant dart to hold and throw with nice balance, if you want something grippy and a bit different then these are certainly worth a try.
