Just before Christmas I reviewed the new Red Dragon Peter “Snakebite Wright World Champion Tapered Special Edition and I mentioned that Red Dragon were also bringing out another two new versions and I was particular keen to try the Torpedo version, so here they are! 🙂

I do wonder if Peter Wright would have tried these in the Worlds had he got further this year, I think its very likely he will have lol. I think he has around 18 different models now with RD, doubt he is finished yet so where it will end is anyone’s guess!

As with the other darts in the World Champion range it has a black and rainbow rainbow PVD coating and a flattish razor style grip. This is the shorter torpedo style barrel though so thicker and the front and then a short taper from mid to rear.

I was keen to try this version as it often suits my front grip and throw and its the only reason I bought them to be honest 🙂

I think I was right though, I have found them a pleasant dart to throw and very nicely balanced for me. I know not everyone like a thick or short barrel but as I was a big fan of this style in my earlier days I still have some fondness for it.

Pretty much everything else is the same as the other darts in the range in relation to the grip and coating, its just obviously shorter and thicker. I think for middle grippers there is not a lot of difference, but for rear grippers I think it could be worth a try if you already like this style as it felt nicely balanced still and comfortable in the fingers on the rear taper.

As mentioned in other reviews of the same range the grip is a razor style but not that grippy as it is quite flattish to the barrel, so just medium to slightly above medium.

Neat looking dart that is enhanced by the coating and seems to be good quality all round too.

When I bought them it was as soon as they had gone on sale but since then the price has risen £3 but even so its still a about reasonable for a high profile players darts with two types of coating and a fair amount of machining, of course would have been nicer without the increase though 🙂
