These are the Echo from Targets new soft tip range. There is four models in the range numbered 11,12,13,14 I am reviewing the number 12 model. I think the way the darts are numbered could mean that a steel tip version may come out, dont quote me on that but I hope it does as its such a nice feeling grip.
Its a straight barrel dart that has a ring grip design but done in a very nice way. The front half is a mix of thin double rings with concave centres so that the edges are kind of pronounced, and it also has a wide solid ring grip with beveled edges. The whole grip has a lateral cut through so it kind of looks like a block style grip. What is particularly nice is it has sections that have the hand sandblasted texture and the whole barrel has a black ti coating so looks and feels great. The rear half is kind of like a smaller version of the grip on the front half and may be is just a touch more grippy.
The grip design makes the dart look great and it has a kind of prickly dry feel because of the coating and the edges. Thats as close as I can describe it because it feels unique but is not so grippy that it sticks, thats what I like about it though, enough grip but releases nice and easy 🙂
As its a straight barrel it should work fine for all grip styles and felt good from the front and the rear for me.
The weight on the box is the whole set up but I used steel tip conversion points and it was good to throw but I think I would still prefer to see a version in full steel tip with a slightly shorter, thicker and heavier barrel.
If you are a soft tip player that wants something different grip wise then certainly give them a go and if you are a steel tip player that likes a lighter dart then I would say get some conversion points and try them too!
Quality is very nice and pricewise its very reasonable for such a nicely machined and coated dart, considering that soft tips often cost a little more than steel its good these are kept around the £40 mark.
Nice darts well worth a try even if its just to experience the nice grip 🙂
