These are the new Target Danny “The Gambler” Baggish Gen 1 darts released recently. Danny is a U.S. player who has quickly being making a name for himself over the last couple of years or so and its great to finally see Target release his signature darts.
The darts are a neat variation on the classic straight barrel ring grip. The rear is the standard style ring grip we are all familiar with and the front half has a kind of beveled ring where the rings have a kind of “V” indent so that the edges are a little more prominent and giving a touch more grip.
Its not massively grippy though but more effective than it looks and just adds that subtle variation to give it something a little more unique over the standard style rings.
The darts are a little thin for me personally but I am sure just right for many others and as its a straight barrel style it should work well for most grips, so a good all rounder basically. May be front grippers have the best of it though 🙂
The front grooves have a blue almost metallic looking paint and the rear grooves are black so looks a nice style and I also like the bull nose with the little section of micro grip just above it.
I do think that painted grooves can cause a slight mis-match in weight sometimes, and these had two barrels nearly perfectly matched but the third was above the stated tolerance on the box which is said to be within + or – 0.05g but hardly noticeable in the great scheme of things as it was 0.08g difference between lightest and heaviest. All the same if I dont point it out I am sure someone will mention it so I adjusted quality score within reason 🙂
Other than that though the darts are very nice and even though there is lots of darts of these style it is just ever so slightly different at the front to have some interest and its a players dart that is not too crazily priced so certainly worth a look 🙂
