This is a review of the Code Blue darts from the Unicorn Code range. The darts are so called because they have a grip pattern made up of dots and dashes of the Morse Code which spells out “UNICORN” from the nose upwards 🙂
The darts are a short style so may be not to everyone’s taste, but there is not many short models in a straight barrel style so great for people who want more choice in this design.
The barrel has a black ti coating and blue painted rings but around the Code grip the coating is removed to reveal some of the natural tungsten underneath so an interesting looking dart overall.
The Code grip certainly has a unique feel to it, there is parts that almost feel like a mix between a shark and a knife edge style grip so a little more grippy than it first appears.
Its also nice that it has some grip on the nose of the barrel too.
As its a short style its not going to work well for everyone but if you like this style and want something a little chunkier and grippier then its very pleasant to throw, one of them darts I enjoyed throwing but I think its going to have limited appeal due to its length and sadly the price.
When I did the video review I marked the % tungsten as 90 as that is what it says on the box and from past experience I was told the box was correct but I contacted Unicorn who finally replied, (think they were away at the Munich IPSO) and they said its 80% so at £64.95 its pricey. I can see some worth in the machining and coating but I have dropped the value rating by 1 point in this written review. I think these would have been a good seller at around the £40 mark as its nice to have some more choice in the short barrel style, but at current price I think some people are going to miss out on what is actually a neat little dart.
