This is a review of the Code Green darts from the Unicorn Code range. I have already reviewed the Code Blue darts here: https://bit.ly/39dNnZH The darts are so called because they have a grip pattern made up of dots and dashes of the Morse Code which spells out “UNICORN” from the nose upwards 🙂
This model is a little longer and thinner than the Code Blue but follows a similar style of grip as is to be expected. The Unicorn Code grip is on the front and they have a similar tapered nose as the Blue but these has a kind of micro shark grip on the nose. The same shark style grip is around the middle and then on the rear is a ring grip with a micro cut on top. Of course the grooves are painted green on these too.
I think this version will probably have a more all round appeal and should work well for front, middle and rear grippers. I guess the unique selling point which is the Code grip is only for fronties again though.
I do like the feel of this Code grip, its pretty grippy but as mentioned in the video because its made of dots and dashes its not 100% uniform all the way round, so for some that may be off putting, I only noticed more when just rolling the darts in my fingers though, was fine when throwing.
I find this a little nice to throw overall, and seems to be a little better for middle and rear grippers too. For middle grippers its a more traditional medium level shark grip but for rear grippers the fingers sit comfortably in a kind of squared or flattened scallop.
So the only issue is still the price, and these are 80% tungsten which some people get kind of snobby over but after speaking to a few darts brands and asking about the cost difference between 80% and 90% they all said the same, difference is not much and its still all down to how the barrels are machined.
Still I think these would have been a bigger seller in the £40 – £45 bracket, they are nicely machined and the black ti coating is nice but I still think the £65 tag will put some off which is a shame as they are rather nice to throw.
