This is the Mission Makara from the recent new Mission 2021 launch. There is two models in the range one is a straight barrel and this which is tapered. The darts have a great look with a very nicely designed rear grip and graphite PVD coating.
The front has a fairly long taper with a thin ring grip with lateral cuts. Just above that is a short shark grip section and then barrel tapers slight to the rear and has a very intricate grip design. It gets harder and harder to describe these fancy grips lol but as best I can describe the rear is a mix of thin grooves and rings with indented grooves that have half circle notches cut through it, its best to check the pics really lol!
Its a great looking dart no matter and the contrasting between the front and rear bare tungsten and pvd coating works well.
As a front gripper I am not always that keen on holding a taper but it was not bad at all with these, I think its down to the grip and also was easy to hold a little further up on the wider part of the taper. I do think its probably just above on the shark grip where the sweet spot is for grip and balance though. Its kind of mix of not quite to the front and not fully to the centre so could work well for many really.
I think rear grippers should get a lot from the dart also, grip is nice on the rear without being too aggressive and sits in the fingers nicely too.
I did play with these darts a fair bit more after the review video and I found I could happily switch from the very front to the shark grip and still get them flying well. I think its partly down to the short stem set up and overall balance though, it works well on this dart
Again its very nicely machined from Mission and only problem was it was a touch below the stated 23g weight but no real complaints at all other than that small one 🙂
Price is certainly not bad either for such a nicely machined dart.
Overall then I think a dart that could be a good all rounder if the tapered style is for you and another great addition to the Mission range! 🙂
