This is the Jose De Sousa darts from Trinidad Darts Japan. These are the Type 2 steel tip version and its a long straight barrel dart with a mix of ring grip styles.
Jose De Sousa recently won the Grand Slam of Darts 2020 and has been playing some great darts of late. These darts are his second model with Trinidad and I got them sometime early or late last year, forget which but not sure if the very latest ones come with the Condor Axe instead of the Condor Zero Stress that these come with.
According to the Trinidad site these darts were near 15mm longer than his previous ones and also 3g heavier. He played a lot of soft tip so hence the use of the lighter darts.
Its long for me at 55mm but I did get some nice throws from them and I found a more gently throw seemed to suit them better. I dont consider myself a hard thrower anyway but I still went a little softer and saw them perform better, for me anyway lol
I still think its a little too long personally but the amazing thing for me is how much is drilled out to get the weight down to 18g, nearly 40mm from the rear! I think because of that the balance seems closer to the front and I think its the best spot for grip too. There was a slight feeling of hollowness though, almost like throwing a hollow tube.
As its a straight barrel dart it should work for any grip style but I think front grippers have the best for grippiness but the rear is one of them grips that I think is different to many. For some it may feel slippy and others it may feel there is more traction, I feel like I am leaning towards the more slippy crowd though 🙂
Very nicely made darts and quite an elegant look overall, great quality but a little pricey still. Hard to get in most countries which I think is likely to change as Jose seems to be picking up a big fan base now.
So worth a look if you like light and long darts and nice front grip 🙂
