A review of another set from the Harrows 2020 range. This is the bulbous version of the new Strix dart, there is also a parallel (straight) barrel version.

The dart has a great combination of angled rings and thin rings and initially looks quite aggressive! Upon feeling the dart though I think most of the grippiness is coming from the spacing in between the rings rather than the actual sharpness of them. As long as you dont put too much pressure on holding the dart (and you shouldn’t really) then it feels more like a high medium than high level grip, at least it did to me anyway 🙂

What usually deters me from darts of this style though is the shape. I think its more down to where I like to place my fingers and sometimes these tear drop or bulbous darts dont sit quite right when I am using my natural grip. These were surprisingly well balanced and quite well behaved through the air too so I had no real worries. I also found that gripping the slightly thicker front worked very well too.

So I can safely say its worth a try for a front gripper but if you are averse to too much grip or too front heavy a dart it may not be for you.

The darts seem to fly well from the middle for me also but not sure its the best place to hold them, guess it will depend on the individual.

The rear part has a kind of scallop and is thinner but to me also felt a little grippier, so if you are a rear gripper that likes a scallop and a grippy dart then again it could be worth a try.

The grip is pretty much the full length of the barrel with just a slight change of style and severity at the very rear.

Its a fairly busy looking dart but the black ti coating makes a nice highlight.

Overall quality is excellent, no issues with machining or coating so very good and I dont think price is too bad at all for a dart with all this machining.

So another good model from Harrows and one I was not expecting to like so much as I do 🙂
